Meet the Committee

President - Abby Ballard

Hi my name is Abby and I’m a final year vet student at the RVC. I am super excited to be president this year and help organise some exciting talks and events- so keep an eye on the socials! I grew up eventing so my main interest is sports medicine. Whether you are in your first year or last, BSEVA is a great organisation which every student should be involved with, regardless of your equine experience! Everyone is super friendly so make sure to get involved and hopefully we will see you at some talks soon!

Vice-President - Luchia Johnson

Hi everyone, I’m Luchia, and will be vice president of BSEVA this year, alongside Julia. I am going into my fifth year at the RVC and have developed a real interest in equine medicine. I’m looking forward to getting a variety of interesting talks organised for the next year!

Vice-President - Julia Lanfear

My name is Julia, and I am going to be a 4th year veterinary student at RVC this fall. I love working with horses and have a particular interest in equine sports medicine. I am very excited to join SEVA Committee this year as a Vice President and am looking forward to organizing talks for all of our members!

Congress Lead - Kitty Hill

Hi, I'm Kitty, I'm a third-year vet student at Harper Keele and am interested in equine and emergency critical care. I attended congress at RVC last year which I adored so am so excited to be able to help organise Congress 2025 and will try my best to make it as interesting and welcoming as last year! I'd love to incorporate any ideas anyone has for talks or practicals – so feel free to reach out and say if you have something specific – I'd love to hear your ideas!!!

Secretary - Dasha Scanlan-Oumow

I’m Dasha, your new BSEVA Secretary for this year. I am a second year at Cambridge and keen to specialise in equine medicine - although very open to all aspects of it at the moment! I currently ride out for a local trainer which is a great way to destress / procrastinate from exam revision, highly recommended! Please get in touch if you have any ideas or want to know more about BSEVA, very excited for this year :))

Treasurer - Esme King

Hi I’m Esme a 4th year Vet student at Surrey. I have no background in equine and am hoping to expand my knowledge and connections further within the profession. I’m looking forward to being Treasurer again this year and assisting with congress budgeting to ensure it is the best it can be.

Social Media - Sarah McGhee

Hi! I'm Sarah and I'll be covering social media duties alongside Jennifer. I'm a final year at Edinburgh with a strong interest in equine practice, especially racehorse practice sports medicine. I'm kept busy at home with my ex-racehorse, Bill. I can't wait to get started with the committee and look forward to what the year brings

Social Media - Jennifer Santoyo
